Using a Laptop with the dScribe Studio

Configure dScribe Studio PC

  1. On the dScribe Studio PC, open the Microsoft Store. You can find the program by typing Microsoft Store into the bottom search bar and clicking the option when it shows up.
  2. When the store opens up, type in the top search bar Wireless Display.
  3. When the option becomes available, click on Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter.
  4. Click Get. The download will begin. 
  6. When the download finishes, search for Projection settings in the bottom search bar - click it when it becomes available.
  7. Under Add the “Wireless Display” optional feature to project to this PC, select Optional features. 
  8. Next to Add an optional feature, select View features, select See available features, then enter “wireless display.”
  10. Checkmark the box and click Add.
  11. This can take some time to add - be sure to leave it up while it's being added, as it can take up to 15-20 minutes. Consider completely the configurations for the laptop in the next section while the Studio PC is adding Wireless Display.
  12. When the addition finishes, open Wireless Display on the PC by typing it in the bottom search bar. 
  13. Once it opens, right-click the icon and Pin it to the taskbar for easy opening.
    1. You could consider clicking and dragging it as far to the left as possible, or as close to the search bar as possible. This will allow you to use the hotkey combination of Windows Key + 1 to quickly open the application.
  14. Move the blue-colored window up to the dScribe Canvas, ready for laptop connection.

Cast from Laptop (User-provided)

  1. Ensure both PC and laptop on the same network.
  2. Press Windows Key + K to start the casting process, looking for the Studio PC.
  3. Select the Studio PC computer name - likely the only device available. 
  4. On the laptop, checkmark Allow mouse, keyboard, and other input from this device.
  5. We also recommend you choose Duplicate for ease of understanding.
  6. Begin to use the Canvas as normal - it should be controlling the laptop!
  7. Click the X in the upper-right when you're done.
